The stages cervical cancer or stages of cervical cancer refers to the levels or stages of the development of cancer in the cervix of a female. Sometimes, there are no symptoms until the cancer is very developed. For this reason, pap smears have become common to diagnose this cancer. They have made the cervical cancer rate drop 50 percent. There are 5 stages of cervical cancer commonly known.

The 5 Stages of Cervical Cancer

Cervical Cancer has five different categories in its staging system.

The system used is referred to as the "Figo" system (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

In stage 1, cancerous cells have invaded the cervix, and cells are no longer just at the surface.

Cancer is still confined to the cervix and has not spread. In stage 5, the cancer has spread to other areas of the body. This is the most advanced stages cervical cancer.

We don't know exactly what causes cervical cancer, but certain risk factors are believed to have an effect. Medical history and lifestyle - especially sexual habits - play a role in a woman's chances of developing cervical cancer. More controversial is early sexual abuse as a potential cause. Exposure to a mans sperm before a young girl has completed formed her sexual reproductive organs can also be a risk factor. Another reason why, morality and religion aside, it is best not to disturb this area of a young women’s body until it is properly formed through concentual or non concentual sex. (Around 16-21 in western women).

The best form of prevention is abstaining from sexual activity until you are physically ready, not just emotionally and hormonially. Also building up your immune system with a healthy diet and supplementation. Getting regular pap smere tests has been proven to bring down all stages cervical cancer rates because the earlier abnormal cells are caught the more chance treatment will help.
